The Immunization Station was established in 2002 as a collaborative effort between Children’s Hospital of Michigan at the Detroit Medical Center and the Michigan Department of Community Health. The goal is to provide immunizations to avoid missed
opportunities for children eligible for free immunizations through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program.
The Station provides immunizations to children of all ages – six weeks through eighteen years if they qualify under the VFC program. The VFC program provides vaccines to children less than 19 years of age who are uninsured, underinsured, Medicaid
eligible, American Indian or Alaskan Native.
Administered vaccines are entered into the Michigan Care Improvement Registry at the time they are given and the parent is given a printed record.
Parents can also be provided with a print-out of their child’s Immunization Record from the Michigan Care Improvement Registry regardless of eligibility.
The Immunization is located on the Second floor of the Children's Hospital Specialty Center-Detroit, 3950 Beaubien. It is open three days a week. Hours of operation are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The clinic is closed
from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays and Fridays and all holidays. Please note appointments are required at this time and same day appointments are available, call 313-832-8433 to schedule.
Families are encouraged to sign in at least one hour prior to closing to be seen.
The Immunization Station does not accept any private insurance. If a patient has both private insurance and Medicaid they do not qualify to be seen in the Immunization Station, the private insurance is treated as primary.
Patients (children) must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian with proof of guardianship or foster parent with the proper documentation.
All parents/guardians or foster parents must have a photo ID to be serviced.
Please note the Immunization Station does not provide TB tests or synagis injections.
When referring patients to the Immunization Station, please have them contact the office with any questions.
