Overview and Highlights of our Program
Overview of our Pediatric Residency Program
The pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan is a three year program accredited by the ACGME that prepares residents to be successful in their field(s) of interest, whether that is primary care, hospital medicine or a subspecialty. Our residents gain exposure to a wide variety of clinical experiences and graduate from the program with confidence to pursue their career goals.
The main clinical hospital is located in Midtown Detroit which is the only free-standing children’s hospital in the Metro Detroit region. At the main hospital, residents are exposed to various services, including General Pediatrics, Allergy/Immunology, Infectious Disease, Hematology/Oncology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Neurology, Genetics/Metabolism, Emergency Medicine, Neonatal Intensive Care, and Pediatric Critical Care. Ambulatory experiences in General Pediatrics and subspecialties are located in the Pediatric Specialty Center across the street from the hospital and various locations across Metro Detroit. The Newborn Medicine rotation takes place at Hutzel Women’s Hospital on the grounds of the Detroit Medical Center.
