Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

The Children’s Hospital of Michigan at the Detroit Medical Center is home to a multidisciplinary team of pediatric subspecialists on staff who provide comprehensive pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgical care services for conditions including:

  • Cleft lip and palate
  • Craniosynostosis and head shape abnormalities
  • Hemangiomas and vascular malformations
  • Pediatric burns
  • Congenital hand anomalies
  • Congenital ear anomalies
  • Congenital breast anomalies
  • Craniofacial trauma
  • Plagiocephaly

Members of the multidisciplinary Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team are fellowship trained and board certified in their pediatric subspecialties, which include pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgery, neurosurgery, otolaryngology (Ear, nose and throat), orthodontics, oral surgery, anesthesiology and audiology. The team also includes specially trained speech therapists, child psychologists, social workers and nurses. Working together, they focus exclusively on the unique needs of children and their families.

In addition to the expertise of the Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team, patients at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan have access to the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), pediatric imaging center and pediatric anesthesia team.
